Cobrabald Genetics is the home of the Cobrabald Charolais Stud which was founded in 1972 being one of the founding studs of the Charolais inception into Australia, this was expanded in conjunction with the late Stan Hilditch and Peter & Kate Clonan at "Cobrabald River" Walcha NSW on the top of the Great Dividing Range, which has housed 19 of the stud’s on-property sales.
Cobrabald Charolais originated principally from French origins and from there have successfully established a strong herd of purebred Charolais, with the aim of producing moderate framed cattle with firm commercial traits fertile productive females and muscled structurally sound bulls with adequate fat cover to meet all specifications for today's market from British breed cows.
In 2005 Cobrabald Genetics moved to "Mullengah" and "Bundah" Gulargambone NSW, at the foot of the Warrumbungle Mountains, where a new dawn and a new era has begun. The Cobrabald Charolais Stud, has benefited from the transition, and although the original concepts on progeniture and breeding have stayed the same, a 'new wave' of genetics have been introduced to the existing breeding herd, allowing for a better unrivalled range of accurate, concise and cutting-edge composite crosses that appeal to consumers and breeders alike.
Cobrabald genetics continues to run as a family owned and operated alliance, which contributes to the extended Clonan families and their properties that make up the companies structuring. The family have continued to go from strength to strength and look forward to enjoying their future within the cattle industry.
